Early Childhood Partnership Opportunity with Maryland State Department of Education: Baltimore & Statewide
This meeting was originally scheduled for November 14, 2023. We apologize for any inconvenience.
The Prenatal-to-Five (PN5) Steering Committee will share an update about a strategic new partnership with the Maryland State Department of Education that is relevant to the successful implementation of the Blueprint for Maryland's Future.
Martha Holleman of Strategic Thinking for Social Change will share a draft scope of work for a child care supply and demand study that is proposed to be conducted in Baltimore with a plan to create a toolkit for conducting similar studies in jurisdictions across the state. Laura Weeldreyer of Maryland Family Network (MFN) will provide a broader contextual lens, which helps illustrate how the supply and demand study is an integral component of implementing the Blueprint for Maryland's Future. As part of her presentation, Laura will share about some other projects underway that are complementary to the supply and demand study. This proposed initiative is a top priority for Dr. Shayna Cook, Assistant State Superintendent of Early Learning at MSDE, and is an outgrowth of the meeting the PN5 Group had with Dr. Cook last June. The PN5 Steering Committee will provide information about the process-to-date and opportunities and timing going forward.
The Prenatal-to-Five (PN5) Affinity Group convenes funders who are interested in supporting expectant parents and children from birth through age five and their families to improve outcomes. Maryland Philanthropy Network members interested in attending for the first time are encouraged to reach out to Marlo Nash prior to attending a meeting.
