Member Sponsored Briefing: Echoing Green and Supporting Leaders of Color
Through Fellowships and other innovative leadership initiatives, Echoing Green spots social entrepreneurs and invests deeply in their ideas and leadership to accelerate their impact.
All members are invited to join this briefing with Cheryl Dorsey, the president of Echoing Green, who will provide an overview of the work of Echoing Green and their mission to support emerging social entrepreneurs. In addition, she will discuss the comprehensive report, Racial Equity and Philanthropy: Disparities in Funding for Leaders of Color Leave Impact on the Table, which she co-authored in partnership with The Bridgespan Group.
Our objectives for this session are to:
- Learn about Echoing Green and the history of their work on leadership and the social sector.
- Review Echoing Green’s data that illustrates the magnitude of funding disparities in the social sector
- Become aware of the barriers leaders of color face in fundraising, and the effects such repeated interactions have on them
- Learn about current opportunities to support BIPOC-led organizations in Baltimore
Cheryl is a frequent speaker on racial justice and equity in philanthropy. She has advocated for equitable funding for leaders of color on panels organized by The Stanford Social Innovation Review, Skoll World Forum, The World Economic Forum, and more.
The Member Sponsors for this briefing are Tomi Hiers, The Annie E. Casey Foundation and John Brothers, T. Rowe Price Foundation.
