Member Sponsored Briefing: West North Avenue Development Authority
The West North Avenue Development Authority, created through legislation, brings together state, local, and community partners to develop a comprehensive neighborhood revitalization strategy for the West North Avenue Corridor in Baltimore. The first comprehensive community development effort in the State of Maryland lead by a Historically Black University, the West North Avenue Development Authority plan will focus on revitalization efforts that will benefit residents, housing, neighborhoods, economic development, and transportation in communities located between educational anchor institutions, Coppin State University, and the Maryland Institute College of Art. Further, the Authority’s area is adjacent to the reinvestment of the former Target at Mondawmin Mall into a community center that will host local retail, culinary and workforce training areas and an expansion of TouchPoint Baltimore.
Join us for a conversation with State Senator Antonio Hayes; Chad Williams, Executive Director of the West North Avenue Development Authority; Anthony L. Jenkins, Ph.D., President of Coppin State University and chair of the West North Avenue Development Authority; and Tim Regan, President & CEO of Whiting Turner, to hear about this promising step forward in equitable community development and generational wealth building in West Baltimore and beyond.
We’ll hear the plans of the authority and the more than $50,000,000 of investments garnered for the area and explore opportunities for alignment and partnership.
