Taking a Stand: A Growing Trend for Foundation Leaders?
Tuesday, November 10, 2015, 2:30 - 3:30 PM
NCRP Executive Director Aaron Dorfman will lead a discussion with three leaders in the philanthropic sector who have shifted their organizations from the role of funder and convener towards a more active and vocal role as partner and advocate:
- Dr. Sherece West-Scantlebury will discuss what happened when the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation took a stand on education.
- Rev. Starsky Wilson will share how, in the aftermath of Ferguson, the Deaconness Foundation used a racial justice lens on the issues of housing and violence in Missouri.
- Dr. Robert K. Ross of The California Endowment will share his insights regarding the work his organization to build healthy communities for all Californians.
Come with your own questions and stories about how foundations and the nonprofits they fund can take a stand. And join the conversation on Twitter using the #TakingAStand hashtag.
Offered to Maryland Philanthropy Network members via the Council on Foundations and the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy.
