CareFirst commits $2M to nonprofits addressing community needs amid coronavirus
CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield will contribute $2 million to area nonprofits serving the needs of communities during the novel coronavirus outbreak.
The heath insurer announced the funds Monday, noting that they will help provide further relief for communities' health, social and economic needs, such as closing gaps in medical care access, reducing food insecurity and supporting economically vulnerable populations.
Seniors who need help staying in quarantine will also receive additional aid through the funding. Services include pharmacy and medication assistance, transportation and medically tailored meals.
