CCBC awarded $213,000 grant by the Stulman Foundation to support scholarships for nursing assistant students
Community College of Baltimore County is pleased to announce it has recently received a three-year, $213,237 grant from the Leonard and Helen R. Stulman Foundation to support scholarships for Continuing Education students pursuing a Certified Nursing Assistant or Geriatric Nursing Assistant Certificate. The goal of CCBC’s three-year Stulman GNA Scholars Initiative is to meet workforce demands of the healthcare industry and improve access to college for low-income students by focusing on scholarship funding for nursing assistant students. The grant also supports a part-time retention coordinator to provide individual support to help students successfully navigate classes and requirements needed to gain internships and employment.
This funding will allow CCBC to increase access to higher education for students who could not otherwise afford the cost of tuition and who are seeking a career path that doesn’t require a degree. It also provides an accelerated path to employment for students, whether they are just out of high school or want to make a career transition. The Stulman GNA Scholars Initiative will be open to both Baltimore City and Baltimore County residents who wish to complete the Nursing Assistant program, which is two months long.
