Community Foundation continues to look to Frederick County's future
Sitting on a pedestal at the unveiling of the Community Foundation of Frederick County’s annual report to the community was a time capsule. Stainless steel, with green Christmas lights spilling out of it, the time capsule sat in the background for much of Thursday evening, as the foundation discussed its needs assessment, accomplishments in the past year and awarded volunteers for their service.
The time capsule represents the future, said President and CEO Betsy Day. People at the dinner wrote on cards, in green markers, their hopes and wishes for the future of the county. The capsule will be opened at the Community Foundation’s 40th anniversary in seven years. “The purpose of a time capsule is to take a snapshot of time and commemorate that in the future,” Day said.
Future is a new focus of the nonprofit, which launched the Forever Frederick County campaign earlier this year. The Forever Frederick County fund will help the foundation continue to fund future endeavors in the county and address the needs of the county years from now.
