The Fund for Educational Excellence Announces Creation of Dr. Sonja B. Santelises Legacy Fund

The Fund for Educational Excellence (The Fund), an independent nonprofit organization working to close the equity and opportunity gaps for all students in Baltimore City Public Schools, today announced the creation of the Dr. Sonja B. Santelises Legacy Fund. The fund honors Dr. Sonja B. Santelises’ decade of service as CEO of Baltimore City Public Schools, making her the longest-serving leader of the district in more than 80 years.

Created in partnership with Dr. Santelises, the sustained fund will use annual investment income to provide pre-college experiences for a cohort of Baltimore City Public Schools high school students, helping expand their horizons and expose them to new pathways for academic and personal success.

More than $250,000 has already been raised to support the fund thanks to generous early contributions from philanthropic supporters committed to honoring Dr. Santelises’ legacy and investing in Baltimore City students.
