Horizon Foundation Welcomes Kenitra Fokwa Kengne, Senior Program Officer

The Horizon Foundation is thrilled to welcome Kenitra Fokwa Kengne to our staff as a Senior Program Officer.

Kenitra will direct our equity initiative, managing our collaborative of equity grantees and helping to integrate equity strategies into all of our programs. She will also oversee all Foundation grantees and our general grantmaking process. She brings over a decade of experience managing public health programs and grantees, cultivating partnerships and providing training and support to a wide array of stakeholders.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Kenitra spent seven years at the YMCA of the USA, where she managed and provided training and technical assistance to local YMCAs to support the implementation of evidence-based chronic disease prevention programs and supported collaboration and partnership development to help strengthen communities. She also led the development of the Health Equity Resource Guide, a national resource for local Ys to better serve marginalized and low-income communities. Kenitra previously worked as a prevention specialist for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and a health education specialist for the Alachua County Health Department in Gainesville, FL.

Kenitra is proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.  She holds a master’s in public health and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Florida A&M University. She lives with her husband Maisonobe and their two children, Cassie and Maison.
