Maryland Philanthropy Network Welcomes Shanetta Martin as Education Funder Affinity Group Coordinator
We are pleased to announce Shanetta Martin has joined our team as the Education Funders Affinity Group Coordinator! In her part-time role at Maryland Philanthropy Network, Shanetta will support the developmental goals of the Education Funders Affinity Group and facilitate the groups' strategic direction for philanthropy initiatives in K-12 education.
With her consulting practice, Shanetta offers technical assistance to foundations and nonprofit organizations at the national, state, and local levels including capacity building, initiative planning and management, nonprofit collaboration, coaching, network building and facilitation, and community youth development.
She has over 20 years of experience in the child and youth policy field. She has worked extensively with family and community foundations in the southwest as well as with our colleagues at the New Mexico Association of Grantmakers. In Maryland, Shanetta has worked directly with school systems through United Way of Central Maryland to foster collaboration among district leaders, teachers, and school administrators using an evidence-based process to improve educational outcomes for students.
Shanetta believes every young person has a fundamental right to a high-quality education, equal access to opportunities, and adequate resources to thrive.
In addition to her role at MPN, Shanetta currently serves as the Interim Education Policy Assistant Director at Advocates for Children and Youth where she leads Pre-K to 12 education at the state level with child advocates and policymakers. She holds a Master's Degree in Family Studies from Michigan State University as well as dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and Humanities Pre-Law also from Michigan State University.
