Md. Census Panel Doles Out 36 Grants to Help Maximize Count
In an effort to maximize the state’s population count in the 2020 U.S. Census – and the federal funding that goes along with it — the state’s 2020 Census Grant Program Panel announced Monday that 36 Maryland government and nonprofit organizations will receive funding as part of a census outreach program. The $4.09 million in awards will support efforts to ensure every Marylander completes his or her census form.
The Census Grant Panel awarded grants to eligible applicants that demonstrated the capacity to conduct outreach activities throughout Maryland to:
- Ensure a fair, accurate, and inclusive count for Maryland, and
- Increase the response rate of hard-to-count communities and populations in Maryland.
