Meet The Funders – Closing the Funding Gap for Black-Led Nonprofits II
The Black Executive Director’s (BLK ED) Network seeks to bridge the funding gap and establish relationships with local and national funders, providing their members a seat at the table not only to eat but to also have the same portion sizes.
A continued joint effort by Maryland Philanthropy Network and the BLK ED Network, this event will provide an opportunity for black-led nonprofit leaders to enrich their understanding about funding opportunities and discuss the barriers they face in securing philanthropic funding. While studies demonstrate an increase in the percentage of grants awarded to black-led nonprofits, the overall percentages remain relatively low.
Representatives from the Abell Foundation, West Baltimore Renaissance Foundation, Hoffberger Family Philanthropies Foundation, and the Greater Washington Community Foundation will provide an overview of their initiatives, briefly describe their priorities, types of grants, application guidelines, and how and when grantmaking decisions are made through a racial equity lens. There will be break-out sessions for participants to engage with funders.
This event is for nonprofit directors who identify as Black and are at any level of fundraising experience. Space is limited to 45 participants.
