Chesapeake Charities Honors Watermen and Seafood Industry

Chesapeake Charities honored watermen and the individuals and organizations committed to advocating and contributing to the seafood industry during its annual Celebration of Charity Award Luncheon the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club Nov. 21.

With last year’s ceremony honoring the agricultural industry, this year’s ceremony recognized the outstanding contributions and tireless dedication to another of Maryland’s invaluable resource industries and honored the exceptional volunteers, philanthropists, advocates and nonprofits who have had a profound impact on the community.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Chesapeake Charities has supported over 140 local funds thrive by providing millions of dollars in investments, according to committee chair Audrey Scott. The annual awards ceremony is a way to provide outstanding recognition, highlight partnerships and showcase that “we’re all in this together,” Linda Kohler, Chesapeake Charities executive director.
