Canceled: Transforming Schools and Neighborhoods – 21st Century Schools Update
This program has been canceled. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Construction on 21st Century School Buildings is well underway with two projects to be completed by August 2017 and several more in the pipeline for completion by 2018. This collective effort between Baltimore City Public Schools, Maryland Stadium Authority, The City of Baltimore, and Maryland Interagency Committee on School Construction is producing innovative, high-quality, and sustainable learning environments for Baltimore's students and communities.
Recognizing this unprecedented opportunity, Maryland Philanthropy Network launched a School-Centered Neighborhood Investment Initiative last year. The initiative is working collaboratively with local, state and community partners including the Family League of Baltimore and the Baltimore City Department of Planning’s INSPIRE process to build community capacity and spark investment into neighborhoods surrounding these new schools. These transformational neighborhood development initiatives range from addressing vacant housing to building opportunities to attract new residential and retail investment and neighborhood amenities such as grocery stores.
Join Maryland Philanthropy Network’s Education and Community Investment Funders for an update on these efforts. Our speakers will include:
- Lisa Hodges, Director, School Centered Neighborhood Investment, Maryland Philanthropy Network;
- Jen Leonard, Program Manager, INSPIRE, Baltimore City Planning Department;
- Nicole Price, Director Community and Public Relations, 21st Century Schools, Baltimore City Public Schools; and
- Jenee Tucker, Program Manager, Community and School Engagement, Family League of Baltimore.
This program is for Maryland Philanthropy Network members only.
