Child Poverty Summit Update with Special Secretary Carmel Martin, Governor's Office for Children
Join Maryland Philanthropy Network for an update on the state effort to end child poverty in Maryland. Carmel Martin, Special Secretary for the Governor’s Office for Children will provide an update on the launch of the ENOUGH Act, their process for implementation, and their vision for engaging communities throughout the state, measures of success that will be informed by their data dashboard, an overview of the state’s fiscal commitment and theory of change, along with what philanthropy can do - both national and local.
This program will begin with a presentation from the Children’s Funding Project who will share an overview of strategic public financing and what funders are doing across the country to support public sector initiatives for children from cradle to career. This presentation will highlight tools along with guidance for making sustainable, systems-level change that is informed by a better understanding of the funding landscape, opportunities, challenges, and leveraging potential of philanthropy as Maryland pursues bold goals to improve child well-being in every county and neighborhood in the state.
