Focus on Tutoring Programs: Part I - Literacy
Join Maryland Philanthropy Network’s Education Funders Affinity Group for a two-part series on tutoring programs. The second discussion Focus on Tutoring Programs: Part II - Math will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, 2:00 - 3:30 PM.
The first discussion will take place with three of Baltimore’s largest tutoring providers focused on literacy. We'll be joined by Lindsay Sullivan, Amplify; Rudi Zellman, The Literacy Lab; and Jeffrey Zwillenberg, Reading Partners. Come learn about what is happening with literacy tutoring programs, what those programs looked like before the pandemic and going forward, possibilities around what’s needed to scale those programs, and ways that philanthropy can help. Specific questions we will explore during the session are the following:
- How have tutoring services been delivered throughout the 2020-2021 school year? How has the delivery of tutoring services evolved with changes in the school schedule?
- What is the current service capacity of the various tutoring providers? What is their interest and ability for ramping up post-COVID? Is there a strategy for dealing with the funding cliff when special federal funds expire?
- What are the forthcoming needs for the various tutoring programs? What will help them continue to grow? How can the philanthropic community support this growth?
This program is for Maryland Philanthropy Network members and invited guests only.
