Rural Philanthropy Day on the Eastern Shore – Bridging towards Hope, Unearthing Opportunity
Please join Maryland Philanthropy Network in partnership with the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore for an exciting day of learning and networking with fellow philanthropic leaders. This day-long program will focus on the unique challenges and opportunities faced by grantmaking organizations and communities serving rural Maryland.
The day will begin with an excursion through a portion of the Underground Railroad, including a tour of the Harriet Tubman Museum. Participants will then enjoy lunch and an engaging conversation with local voices to talk about shared goals around both the racial and economic challenges facing rural Maryland and how philanthropy might respond.
The Eastern Shore is a place of tremendous natural beauty and creativity with a history of economic and racial disparities. Four of the poorest counties in the state sit within the Eastern Shore of Maryland where children are much harder hit by poverty and African American children even harder. These factors (and many more) shape the work of organizations who strive to strengthen communities in this area of the state.
This event is free, and lunch will be provided. If you cannot attend, please feel free to designate other representatives from your organization to attend.
Space is limited (30 MAX). Please RSVP by July 28th.
August is Black Philanthropy Month! The 2023 BPM theme focuses attention on the root meaning of philanthropy as love for all humanity, including Black people, while highlighting universal human rights that promotes racial, social, economic, gender, and environmental justice for our communities and the entire world.
