Social Sector Coffee and Donuts 2018
Do you believe that authentic relationships between nonprofit organizations and funders is key to sustainable social change?
At Maryland Philanthropy Network, we believe that it is! Because of this belief and a little influence from Vu Le's insightful, and very funny, blog Nonprofit AF (formerly Nonprofit with Balls), we are hosting a day "where foundations and nonprofits can get together, over a beer, coffee or ice cream, ...to see each other as human beings, and help to decrease the power dynamics so present in our sector."
Please join the Maryland Philanthropy Network staff and nonprofit and funder colleagues for a coffee and donut celebration of this special day on June 29 from 8:30-10:00 am. Drop in Open Works for Greenmount Coffee Lab's refreshments and good conversation about how to build connections in our sector.
This is an opportunity for professionals from both the funding and nonprofit communities to share, learn and inform Maryland Philanthropy Network about how we might help break down barriers in the sector. Set in a casual, yet focused environment, representatives from both sides will start the morning by briefly sharing some of their challenges and best practices for overcoming traditional funder/nonprofit “power dynamics”. This will set the stage for your informal conversations during the rest of the event. Essentially, participants will have a chance to simply “get to know each other better” in the absence of formalized pitches and proposals while potentially walking away with a clearer understanding of how to engage each other more effectively.
