Ten Essential Questions for Philanthropy: An Introduction to a Tool for Applying a Racial Equity Lens
This is a time of change for philanthropy, especially related to how we deploy our resources to best meet urgent and emergent needs of our communities.
To support our members wanting to translate their commitment to justice and equity to practical application, we are hosting an introduction to a new educational tool, Philanthropic Applications of a Racial Equity Lens: Ten Essential Questions for Philanthropic Grant-Making, Policies, and Practices.
During this virtual session, participants will:
- Have a better understanding of how this tool can be used to apply a racial equity lens to their grantmaking, policies, and practices
- Hear from peers about how they are approaching these questions and how they see using the tool in their work
- Have a first-hand experience of using tool and reflect on how they might use it to advance their commitment to justice and equity
Led by publication author A. Adar Ayira, Senior Director Strategy and Racial Equity, Associated Black Charities, we’ll also hear from these panelists:
- Pamela King, Director, Community Fellowships, Open Society Institute - Baltimore;
- John Brothers, President, T. Rowe Price Foundation;
- Monica Mitchell, Vice President, Community Development, Wells Fargo; and
- Chris Rockey, Senior Vice President, Territory Executive, National Expansion Markets, Community Development Banking, PNC Bank
Join us to hear how philanthropy can re-think and redesign the ways in which we operate and make a greater impact.
This program is for Maryland Philanthropy Network members only.
