Youth Experiencing Homelessness in Baltimore: Building a System of Care

Youth Experiencing Homelessness in Baltimore: Building a System of Care

Tuesday, September 20, 2016, 12:00 - 1:30 PM

In January 2011 the Center for Adolescent Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health documented 640 unaccompanied homeless youth in Baltimore based upon a one day “census.” However, this is certainly an undercount as it is only a reflection of the young people who sought out services at the handful of services providers in the city catering to homeless youth.

Continuing our exploration of housing and homelessness issues, we will hear how that number has changed in the recent Youth Reach count, the status of services for homeless youth, and plans for the coming year.

Our speakers will be:

  • Lara Law, Program Director and Ciera Dunlap, Case Management Supervisor for the Youth Empowered Society (YES) – YES Drop-In Center; and
  • Ingrid M. Löfgren, Homeless Youth Initiative Director, Homeless Persons Representation Project, Inc.

This program is for Maryland Philanthropy Network members only. Lunch will be served.
