Floods and the Built Environment: Protecting Maryland's Most Vulnerable

With over 7000 miles of tidal coastline, Maryland is one of the most vulnerable states to sea level rise. What does this mean for Baltimore, Maryland counties, and vulnerable populations? To understand both risks and responses, including how federal agencies are responding, and what we can do to protect our region, Maryland Philanthropy Network is pleased to host Professor Samuel David Brody, a national expert on  coastal planning and natural hazards mitigation.  

Professor Brody will present the linkages between climate change, flooding, and the places we live and work, exploring the underlying reasons behind our increasing vulnerability to rising waters in the U.S. and the actions that communities, like Baltimore, can take to prevent catastrophic losses in the future. He will also share thoughts on future funding agendas of the federal government and national foundations.
