ARPA Update with the City of Baltimore

In response to the public health emergency that sparked overwhelming human need in communities across the United States during the COVID-19 Pandemic, the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) was signed into law by President Biden on March 11, 2021, guaranteeing unprecedented direct funding to all cities, towns and villages.

The City of Baltimore received $641million alone through the State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund. All ARPA funds must be fully obligated by December 31, 2024. Questions on the minds of many include what comes next for continuing to support nonprofits and communities, how best to sustain promising practices, and the impact on philanthropy.  

Join Maryland Philanthropy Network for a conversation with Shamiah Kerney, Chief Recovery Officer for the Mayor’s Office of Recovery Programs. Ms. Kerney will share updates on successes to date, the anticipated transition away from ARPA dollars, and the timeline for potential alignment between city government and philanthropy to continue resources for communities. This will be an opportunity to learn about the tools and resources available to help you stay abreast of ARPA investments that provide real-time information on the status of projects. Ms. Kerney will be joined by Alexandra “Alli” Smith, Chief of Partnerships and Philanthropic Strategy, who will share information about what’s next for the City of Baltimore.
