The Baltimore Workforce Funders Collaborative recently signed onto a national statement on good jobs. The broadly shared, widely endorsed definition of what constitutes a good job was released by the Good Jobs Champions Group, convened by the Families and Workers Fund and the Aspen Institute Economic Opportunities Program, in October 2022. Signed by over 100 leaders from business, labor, policy, philanthropy, academia, and workforce development it represents a historic step forward toward a future in which all work is valued; no one working full-time lives in or near poverty; companies and workers thrive alongside each other; and diverse talent is never overlooked.
Please join your nonprofit colleagues for a conversation with Melissa Curtin, a licensed Standards for Excellence consultant, experienced social sector leader, coach, and nonprofit strategy consultant. This workshop will focus on effective development and management tools for nonprofit boards. The workshop will include key practices for selecting board members, understanding and communicating board roles and responsibilities, and executive management skills of board coordination and leadership.
What happens when three turn-around schools, armed with a new staff that includes an experienced principal and engaged teachers, become part of a collaborative, coached by successful former turn-around school leader?

Join Maryland Philanthropy Network for the first of a three-part series on community schools. To start our series, Dr. Mavis Sanders, Senior Research Scholar of Black Children and Families at Child Trends, a national think tank, will share research perspectives related to implementation and accountability of K-12, full-service community schools. We will also hear from Ellie Mitchell, Executive Director of the Maryland Out of School Time Network, who will share state policy perspectives and a systems overview of community schools.
The second in our two-part series will focus on practitioner perspectives on teacher retention, challenges, and opportunities.
