Baltimore City and Anchor Presidents Announce New Commitments
Building off of a successful first round of work and through support from Living Cities, the Annie E. Casey Foundation, and the Goldseker Foundation, the Baltimore Integration Partnership (BIP) launched 2.0 in 2014 to deepen anchor institution’s efforts to support area residents, businesses and communities.

The University of Colorado Denver completed their first phase of an organizational network study to assess the ways in which the BIP partners collaborate with one another, as well as with local businesses, residents, and community-based organizations. Their analysis explores how larger systems and community factors in Baltimore relate to economic inclusion, how economic inclusion is implemented within an Anchor, and what enables or hinders economic inclusion efforts at the Anchor Institutions.

Baltimore’s Promise, in partnership with the Annie E. Casey Foundation and the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, recently announced a package of 10 grants totaling roughly $525,000 through its Youth Grantmakers Initiative. The effort, which featured a group of 15 Baltimore-area youth and young adults between the ages of 16 and 25 in prominent design and decision-making roles, granted funds to 10 local organizations.

This peer group supports a broad range of programming and convening to explore education investment opportunities, educational research findings, best practices, and advocates for related public policy.
We are starting the year with a Sharing Session so we can continue to build relationships with one another and share what we are thinking about and focusing on, as well as questions/struggles. We know the year ahead will be especially challenging for the cultural community and collective action on our part will be meaningful.
The purpose of the Arts Funders Affinity Group is to engage and educate Maryland funders about the dynamic local arts and cultural scene and the many opportunities it presents.
