Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS) of Baltimore, a nonprofit organization, and a community development financial institution (CDFI), is deeply committed to social and economic justice for all people and communities. Our programs include Homeownership Creation, Home Preservation, and Comprehensive Community Development. We are seeking an individual with a shared commitment to justice, and a demonstrated track record of leading resource development initiatives and cultivating relationships with corporate, foundations and public agency leadership, to promote NHS of Baltimore. The Director will be responsible for creating and executing comprehensive plans to raise funds for the organization’s operations, programs, lending, and capital initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Participate in the budget development process to meet the needs of NHS
  • Annually update the resource development plan to meet organizational needs
  • Coordinate resource development activities in partnership with the NHS Leadership Team. This includes:
    • Proposal development
    • Programmatic and financial reporting
    • Gift acknowledgement and tracking
  • Cultivate relationships with corporate, foundation, and public agency leadership to promote NHS
  • Lead NHS’ efforts to identify and solicit new sources of revenue
  • Develop relationships throughout Baltimore to promote NHS
  • Research public and private grant opportunities to identify potential funding
  • Engage and support the Board of Directors in in their fund-raising initiatives and support of organizational needs
  • Represent NHS in public meetings such as coalitions and membership organizations
  • Maintain a resource development calendar including reporting and proposal due dates
  • Serve as a member of the Senior Staff engaging collaboratively on the team leading NHS
  • Performs other duties as assigned

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Knowledge of fundraising techniques with expertise in writing grants and proposals
  • Familiarity with the Baltimore non-profit community
  • Comfort working in a racially and culturally diverse communities
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Microsoft Office
