Position

BCF’s Marketing & Public Affairs team is responsible for strategic communications to multiple audiences to grow awareness of the Foundation and to support BCF’s fund development strategies and programmatic goals. The Marketing & Communications Officer, reporting to the Associate Vice President of Marketing & Public Affairs, is responsible for developing and distributing content that brings BCF’s key messages to life, resulting in increased awareness of the organization and increased participation in its offerings across target audiences. This person contributes to overall marketing and content strategy development and bears primary responsibility for managing BCF’s digital presence.

BCF offers a flexible, hybrid work environment. The Communications Officer is expected to work in office at least three days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Develop understanding of and empathy with target audience(s) to develop relevant content and calls to action. Content development includes:
    • Support BCF’s donor services team with timely communications planning and products including event related collateral, information sheets and mailers.
    • Identify and write or edit compelling stories that support BCF’s key messages and goals identified in the organization’s strategic plan and annual marketing and communications plan.
    • Lead social media campaign development and presence.
  • Ensure BCF brand identity is consistent across all communications and platforms. Includes: managing use of logo and graphic identity for BCF; creating and coordinating application of logos/graphic identities for special initiatives and projects; ensuring all BCF print and electronic materials adhere to BCF style guidelines.
  • Create and maintain a Marketing & Communications Master Calendar incorporating owned, earned, and paid media, and a robust schedule of events, mailings, publications, e-news, social media, online and print materials supporting organization and department goals.

  • Serve as project manager for BCF’s website. Includes: making basic content updates and working with website firm to build new pages as required; ensuring all elements and modules are functioning correctly at all times, ensuring all content is up-to-date; regularly monitoring analyzing and reporting on analytics.
  • Work with outside vendors to manage the full production cycle for print and electronic materials.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the overall Marketing and Communications plan.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a Communications and/or Marketing role is a must, along with experience in content development and/or social media management;
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and minimum of 5 years professional experience;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills enabling clear and concise communication of concepts in a compelling and understandable matter to the applicable audience;
  • Engaged in ongoing learning about emerging technologies in news and social media;
  • Graphic design capabilities;
  • Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member; to handle pressure, multi-task, set priorities and manage through ambiguity with an open-mind;
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for the Foundation’s mission;
  • Experience working with digital marketing tools such as Adobe Suite, Hubspot, WordPress, Hootsuite, Salsa, LinkedIn, as well as Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Power Point.
